Marla Vuksan Foundation is dedicated to preserving heroic sacrifices of Marla Vuksan through social activity and fostering of positive social interaction among children. More information about its activities will be available in upcoming months.
Its first project is in Support of a Friendship Day at the Baldwin School in Cambridge where all grades from 1 through 5 will participate in an outing on November 10th 2021 that will take them from Cambridge, Massachusetts to Hale Education, an 1K+ acres of adventure open to students in Westwood, Massachusetts.
Marla Vuksan Foundation strongly believes in face to face interaction for students. Traditionally children in grades 1 through 5 participate in grade outings once or twice a year. However this happens later on in the year. During COViD-19 it became obvious that children are missing informal and playful physical interaction in a friendly and protected setting. We believe that following a summer break, children should have the ability to start the year by meeting new class members and reconnecting with old friends. In a manner of a college orientation, using a time at the beginning of a school year is the best time to foster new relationships and exchange experiences with old friends. In this way, Friendship Day is meant to foster communal sharing and knowledge exchange throughout the year.
On November 10th, 2021 Friends of Baldwin with the donation from the Marla Vuksan Foundation are sponsoring an entire school outing to New Hampshire to foster friendship and positive social interaction. Maria L. Baldwin School grades 1 through 5 will be participating in the all day event guided by the staff of the Baldwin School.
