Marla Vuksan was born on September 2nd 2008 in Newton, MA. She entered New England Donor Services program on November 27th, 2020, the Thanksgiving Eve, donating seven organs to six recipients at the Boston Children’s Hospital.
Marla was a 6th Grade student at Rindge Avenue Upper School Campus after spending seven years at the Baldwin School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She will be remembered as many things: a friend, a tutor, a traveller, a fearless food tester, a baker and an advocate for social justice.
Some of her favorite destinations are Costa Rica, Galapagos, Hawaii, Tokyo, McAllen, Mexico and Croatia.
Her favorite creatures were blue Morpho butterflies of Costa Rica, her most favorite place in the entire world..
Some of her favorite foods were Portuguese Mana Sardine pate, Vinegar pickled Anchovies, Burrata with sun-dried tomatoes, Icelandic cream cheese, Moroccan Tangine, Chicken Masala, Sophia’s Greek Yogurt, Cui, anything with truffles and general everything fun.
Marla’s favorite local restaurants were Zoe’s Somerville and Punjabi Dhaba.
She wanted to be a fashion designer until RBG passed away and inspired her to want to become a lawyer.
Marla’s favorite song was Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole which along with Moana had made her fall in love with Hawaii and rainbows.

Her interests were in Model United Nations, the Debate Club, and creative writing.

Marla had a puppy named Tokyo, honoring one of her favorite cities.

In McAllen, Texas there's a Marla Vuksan Memorial column created by #belovedmantras. It is close to the McAllen International Airport. Its unique form is based on irrigation pipe shape echoing the agricultural past of the region. You can find it here.
Just before the start of the COVID crisis in February of 2020, Marla texted her parents:
Can we get a dog? Please I will take care of it! It will make me so 𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕡𝕪! I will clean up after it! When we leave we can let someone come to check on it and take it on walks like Juan Mario’s lizard! 𓆈 Mommy you don’t know how much I want a dog! Look how good I clean up the house, I can clean the dog’s mess too!!🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶- 𝙼𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚊 𝚅𝚞𝚔𝚜𝚊𝚗シ♡𑁍
